Extra Help and Interns

Stan Cottrell, Extra Help

Stan, an extra help staff member, is a retired school teacher from Oklahoma. He’s active in his local community in numerous organizations, including being a 32nd Degree Mason. Most of all, Stan enjoys helping others, and uses his personal skills to assist with public needs at the Nature Center, including grounds and building maintenance.

Danielle Jones, Extra Help

Danielle, as an education extra help staff member, schedules evening meetings at the nature center for conservation groups, and assists with their programs. She aides with most of the public and school programs as well. She is a senior pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. Danielle grew up with a fishing pole in one hand and a shotgun in the other. She enjoys all the many resources nature has to offer to her. She hopes that with her knowledge and enthusiasm of the great outdoors, she may be able to influence and educate people on the wonders of what lies behind their own back door.

Matt Kimes, Extra Help

Matt, as an extra help staff member, assists public and school programs. He maintains our programming equipment such as the canoes and kayaks, fishing poles, bows and arrows, etc. He graduated From Mountainburg High School 2012, and is pursuing an Electronics Technology degree at UAFS. He has worked for the state since 2010 in Maintenance and at the Marina at Lake Fort Smith. Matt’s hobbies include playing music, sports, fishing and boating.

Evan Smith, Extra Help

Evan, as an extra help staff member, assists with public and school programs and maintains the native plant gardens. Evan graduated from Greenwood High School Grad and currently attends UAFS part-time with the plans to transfer to Arkansas Tech to pursue a Wildlife and Fisheries Degree. Trapshooting is his favorite past-time, and he participated with the AYSSP. Other interests include backpacking, and the Buffalo River Trail remains his favorite place to hike. Evan would like to further his career with AGFC in wildlife management.

Arley Rivas, Extra Help

Arley, as an extra help staff member, assists with public and school programs and helps maintain the nature center property. He joined the military in 2010. Arley is a part of The Arkansas Army National Guard -Charlie company 1st Battalion 153 regiment 39th IBCT as an infantryman Current rank Specialist (corporal). He is currently pursuing his BA in Criminal justice. In the future he would love to become a law enforcement officer or even a wildlife officer or maybe DEA Agent.
